1 / What should I do if the pressure or table is uncomfortable?

Speak up! This is your session and experience. Your therapist wants you to enjoy every minute and benefit as much as possible from the time you spend with them. If you would like anything changed – the pressure, position, temperature, music, etc… speak up! You will not hurt your therapists’ feelings by asking for something that will make you feel more comfortable.

2 / My back and neck feel stiff after watching football all weekend (or sitting around the fire pit). Why does this happen, and how can a massage help me unwind?

That post-weekend stiffness is due to posture fatigue from prolonged sitting.

Lower Back: Sitting shortens your hip flexors, which pulls your lower back out of alignment, causing ache.

Neck/Shoulders: Leaning forward strains the muscles at the base of your skull and causes your upper back to hunch (the "football slump").

How Knead to Unwind Helps:

We don't just treat the pain; we target the source. A massage focuses on releasing those tight hip flexors and the deep neck muscles to restore alignment and increase circulation. This relief is deeper and lasts longer than simply stretching.

3 / Will the massage hurt?

No, massages should not hurt. If you are in pain during a massage, this will cause your muscles to tense up as a protective instinct, making the relaxing effects more difficult to achieve. If the pressure is too intense, speak up immediately so your therapist can adjust. Certain techniques may result in soreness during the days following a massage, similar to that of a good workout, but you should not have pain during your massage.

4 / I'm an active golfer/paddler/hiker in the Evans, GA area. What kind of massage is best for recovering from local outdoor activities like playing a round at Bartram Trail Golf Club, kayaking the Serene18 Trail, or biking the Augusta Canal trails?

That’s a great question! At Knead to Unwind in Evans, Georgia, we focus on relieving the specific tension built up from an active lifestyle. For the muscle groups heavily used in activities like golf, paddling, hiking, and biking near the Augusta Canal or Bartram Trail, we recommend:

Deep Tissue Massage: This is excellent for working into the deeper layers of muscle tissue to release the chronic knots and stiffness that come from repetitive motion and sustained exertion.

Therapeutic Massage: A fully customized session that targets your specific areas of tightness, such as a sore lower back after a long bike ride or shoulder tension from paddling the Serene18 Paddle Trail.

Pro Tip: If you're looking for extra mobility, simply ask your therapist to integrate passive stretching into your Deep Tissue or Therapeutic session. This helps enhance flexibility and speed up recovery.

We look forward to helping you stay active and pain-free on all your Evans, GA adventures! Book your session today.

6 / What if I have body acne, skin conditions or forgot to shave?

Rest assured, massage therapists have seen and felt it all! Please do not feel uncomfortable or embarrassed, you cannot relax if you are anxious about your body’s appearance. Your massage therapist is focused on creating a relaxing and therapeutic experience for you.

7 / What if I'm not sure which massage type to book (e.g., Deep Tissue, Therapeutic, or Prenatal)?

Don't worry about booking the "wrong" type—it's okay! We view the type of massage you select online as a starting point.

Before your session begins, your therapist will conduct a detailed consultation. We will ask you:

-What areas are causing you the most trouble?

-What is your primary goal for the session (e.g., pain relief, stress reduction, etc.)?

Based on your answers, we will brainstorm together to customize the techniques used (whether it's light relaxation, targeted deep work, or specialized prenatal positioning) to ensure you get the best possible results.

The Only Constraint: The only element that can't be changed once scheduled is the length of time (e.g., a 30-minute session cannot be extended to 60 minutes).

If you feel more work is needed after your session, we are always happy to help you schedule a follow-up appointment!
